AVREGO is an ethical design brand founded by Alexandra Gutierrez Perez, a Bolivian designer based in Porto.
AVREGO was born from memory.
Josefa Avrego, born in Bolivia over a century ago, was the mother of Alexandra’s grandfather — a woman known for her strength, discipline, and quiet presence.
Although Alexandra never met her grandfather, she grew up with the weight of the bond he held with his mother.
AVREGO exists to carry that lineage forward.
Not through nostalgia, but through creation.

AVREGO moves on its own measure.
Our production is all made in Portugal. We use 100% natural leather, which extends the life of our products and has greater tensile strength, is soft and has great breathability.
Our factory is located in São João da Madeira, 30 km from central Porto, with an area of 7.94 km², it is the smallest municipality in Portugal. In the 19th century Sao Joao da Madeira was the hat producing city.
After the end of the Second World War, it became less common to wear a hat, due to the social and student revolutions and new lifestyles. So when hats went out of fashion, São João da Madeira became the ‘shoe capital’, so now our brand is nourished by its experience and tradition
Alexandra Gutiérrez Pérez was born in La Paz, Bolivia in the 90s (a true millennial).
She now lives and loves life in Porto, northern Portugal, one of the most charming cities in the world with rich culture and pure charm, but also the perfect place to create and produce shoes.
She always had a fascination/obsession with shoes since she was little, the smell of leather, the texture and the colors captivated her and seduced her to create a brand of shoes, but she wanted to ensure that they had exceptional quality, and that the conditions of the workers are good, all of which led her to move to a place that offers everything she was looking for and more, so she can have personal control over production.
AVREGO is deeply committed to ethical and sustainable production. This is why all our models are handcrafted in a small family-owned factory just outside Porto, exclusively using premium quality leather sourced within Portugal.
